Eco City Township is planned and allotted by GMADA, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority.
GMADA, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority, is the Punjab government body that plans and develops urban estates in the Greater Mohali region, including New Chandigarh. GMADA conceived Eco City as the first large plotted township of New Chandigarh, launching Phase I in 2011 with 836 residential plots that attracted about 1.6 lakh applications.
Phase I covers around 400 acres planned under a land-pooling arrangement, and GMADA names Larsen & Toubro as the development contractor for that phase. Allotment of residential plots in GMADA schemes is normally by draw of lots, and commercial sites are sold by auction. Every scheme notice, payment schedule, transfer permission and dues statement comes from GMADA, so it is the reference point for any purchase.
After Eco City-1, GMADA offered a 289-plot Eco City-2 scheme, proposed a 96-acre Eco City-2 Extension at Hoshiarpur village (put on hold in October 2026) and planned the 716-acre Eco City-3 across nine villages, which received environmental clearance from Punjab’s SEIAA in October 2026. This website is an independent guide and is not operated by GMADA.
